Five Star Senior Living resident Rita Hilton shares her astounding story with a grace and humor matched by few and admired by all.

Five Star Senior Living resident Rita Hilton shares her life story, from her time living in Nazi-occupied Poland, to her immigration to America and raising a family, to what it's like for her to live at a Five Star Senior Living community today.

Quick witted and a passionate storyteller, Rita Hilton celebrates the family she has and the life that keeps her active. She attends lectures, swims, drives, and plays bridge whenever she can. Loved by everyone she meets, Rita possesses an infectious spirit.

Born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1926, Rita suffered through the ghettos of Nazi-occupied Poland. She lost her grandmother during that time and has suffered great heartache and pain.

Years later, she translated her experience into a remarkable collection of stories about her family. Her story now resides in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

I just felt that this story has to be told. Future generations have to know what happened.

Rita also paints with her friends. She loves the architecture and buildings she can create with a brush and a set of colors. She likes to add “the whimsies”— flowers, ribbons, and birds—to her paintings.

Five Star provides tremendous support for Rita. She has found an extension of her family to whom she can continue sharing her story, sharing her humor, and sharing her unwavering joy for life.
